JOB TITLE: Intern, Provider Performance
STATUS: Part-time-flexible 20 hours or up
NUMBER OF HOURS PER WEEK: Flexible, 20 or more per week up to 37.50 hours summer months.
LOCATION(S): Schenectady
TIMEFRAME JOB AVAILABLE: year-long
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The intern will support the development and roll-out of an enterprise provider performance management platform. They will be responsible for research, analysis, manual report production and conducting quality assurance. Additional responsibilities may include requirement gathering and documentation, report design and roll-out support. The intern will performs other duties as assigned. The intern will gain exposure to health insurance network, product and value-based payment strategy, as well gain an understanding of provider performance evaluation.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Education:
Pursuing a Master’s degree in healthcare analytics, healthcare management, public health, clinical degree or M.B.A especially with a focus in health care or related field. A student attending Clarkson University in Schenectady or University at Albany School of Public Health would be ideal.
Required Skills:
Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.
Possess strong analytical skills and a background in statistics is desirable.
Ability to learn to new software.
Ability to exercise discretion in handling confidential information.
Good judgment skills and initiative.
Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple assignments with attention to details and deadlines.
Ability to maintain a professional demeanor in tight deadline situations.
Ability to interact and effectively communicate with persons at all levels within of MVP Health Care both in person and via telephone.
Proficient with Microsoft Office products (especially Word, PowerPoint and Excel).

TIMEFRAME JOB AVAILABLE: Summer
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Preparing internal reports by downloading information from single or multiple sources in support of Cost Center Teams.
Analyze monthly expenses, perform research and gather explanations for variances.
Assist in explaining monthly Actual vs. Forecast, Actual vs. Budget and overall Actual results on a Year-To-Date basis
Input data into Hyperion system for both Budget and Forecast.
Development of monthly analytics for department financials.
Assist in compiling competitor data such as Competitor Stat Financials, Market Share and Monthly State Programs
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Education:
Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics or Accounting or related field.
Required Skills:
Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills with excellent telephone manner.
Ability to exercise discretion in handling confidential information. Good judgment skills and initiative.
Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple assignments with attention to details and deadlines.
Ability to maintain a professional demeanor in tight deadline situations.
